What do you think about suicide? People said suicide was a desperate act and stupid act. People who kill themselves do not take care of their family, and they do not know that life of human is important. Then, what do you think about assisted suicide? Do you think that assisted suicide also does not take care of life? That I want to speak is difference between suicide and assisted suicide. Suicide means that dying with judging themselves and without agreement; however, assisted suicide means that doctor helps patients who want to die with patients’ and families’ agreement. Some people said that doctors who permit assisted suicide are a murder, but I do not think so. They are not murders. The doctors just help patients who live everyday in great pain, and the patients want to die without the pain. Therefore, I believe that the government makes a legal system for assisted suicide.             

 Opponents said that anybody cannot have a right which their life, and assisted suicide is a murder. However, murder is that a murder kills someone who does not want to die, and it is a compulsory death. On the other hand, assisted suicide needs to agree with patients and doctors; also, it is not a murder and just helps patients as medical equipment. In addition, if people do not have a right of life, who has the right? I think that own life can decide oneself. To be sure, human life has dignity and value. Think about it. If the patients who cannot revive anymore administer a lot of anodynes and drugs for life everyday, and the patients live in great pain, does it help for them? If they die, are they happy? Not only human life is important but also patient’s thinking is important. I think relieving patient of pain is the best choice. Assisted suicide is not absolutely a murder; it is medical equipments for patients.             

Opponents also maintain that family endures a pain which patient’s disease. Family can endure with the patient; however, they cannot endure huge cost of hospital. Patients can influence in their families because the treatment cost is very huge. That is a very big problem to family. If family has less money, they cannot pay for treatment cost for the patient always. I think that assisted suicide is made for poor people. Family suffers from watching the patient who lives in great pain; in addition, they have a gradual economic squeeze on society. They cannot probably choose anything.             

The third of opponents’ opinion is if the government permits assisted suicide, many people can abuse negative ways. However, if the government makes a legal system about assisted suicide, and it controls well, it will not make an abuse problem. Instead if the government does not permit it, people can make a problem by using assisted suicide. For example, assisted suicide needs to agree with patients, their families, and doctors. The government has to manage this one in the block.

          I think people have to change their negative mind about assisted suicide. Assisted suicide is not bad, and it has a lot of good things for people. We want to die without any pains. Also, people said that the death is a blessing. Then, how about that patients who depend on many drugs for their pains are in the hospital. Patients have to take a medicine for living, but they also have to feel extreme pain. The patients think that they would rather die than live in this agony. In addition, that they are living is nothing; it is they cannot do anything because they cannot move anywhere. They just have extreme agony everyday. Whether the patients want to die in spite of living, which one a wise choice is. We have to correct people’s understanding about assisted suicide.         

            The final opinion is the patients who want to get an assisted suicide can become an organ donor.  

             In conclusion, the assisted suicide is legal, so we have to make a law about it for people who live in great pain. If the government permits assisted suicide, it can help patients and their families.

Abortion

What do you think about Abortion? My opinion is we must be against abortion. This is murder. My first thinking is an unborn baby is a human being. If people kill the unborn baby, it is sin. People kill the human. The unborn baby has life. Second, if a woman aborted, she might get a mental problem. When the woman really wants to het a baby, she might not get a baby because of experience of abortion.In the future, if you want to get a baby, you must not have an abortion. Therefore, I am opposed that.

To my friend, Mi-Jin

Hello, my best friend, Mi-Ji. We met in Korea before I came to the U.S. You told me, “You can do it, and you can learn about American culture. Do not scare that.” I first came here, I thought your mean, and I could cheer up. Mi-Ji, while I studied at CMU, I could remember my childhood with you. At that time, we went in the elementary school. You were a very kind and quiet person. I just wanted to know about you, so I tried to talk with you. When I tried to talk with you, your face had a very write face, looked like pale. I thought you were a week person. My character was very active, but you were not. I was interested in you. When we were in the same middle school, we were closer than before, and you were a little bit active than before. In addition, we would send e-mail each other. I still keep our letters in my room. When we were closer, I made your nickname, Mi-Ji. I like this name. When I feel sad or depress, I would read your letters. It is so good. I can remember the sweet time. However, when we went to the different high school, we could not talk each other because we did not have enough time. We had to study for entering a good university. I missed the time. I would like to talk with you about my feeling and something. If I go back to Korea, we can meet anywhere, right? I want to tell about my experience in CMU and our childhood.
